Laboratory 1253 - Information technology in medicine
In 2013, the laboratory was renovated and equipped with new modern computer equipment. It represents a computer class in which doctoral students have access to high-speed Internet connection and the ability to conduct laboratory studies, seminars and discussion of projects. There are 8 jobs with 8 desk PC: Intel Core i5-2400 CPU 3GHz, HD 1 TB, RAM 8 GB. Four specialized laboratory models Laboratory at "Information Technologies in Medicine" and "Communication Systems in Medicine" have purchased additionally. These laboratory models which are conducted in the laboratory, also. Approximately 7 students from the Faculty of Telecommunication and Faculty of Computer systems preparing her thesis each year in the laboratory.
PhD students in the doctoral program "Theoretical foundations of communication (information technology in medicine)" work in the laboratory. 8 PhD students have worked in the laboratory so far and now other 3 PhD students work. The laboratory result Lab. Exercises "Communication Systems in Medicine" with students from the Faculty of Telecommunications and "Information Technology in Medicine" with students from Faculty of Computer systems.
Laboratory 1256 - Signals and Systems
The laboratory was renovated in 2006 and later in 2014. It was refurbished with modern computer equipment. In the lab there are 15 workplaces with 15 computers. There are high-speed Internet connection and free WiFi access.
The available specialized hardware equipment in the laboratory is: Digital oscilloscope; Arbitrary waveform signal generator; Spectrum analyzer; Tracking generator; FPGA development boards; Specialized modules for amplification and high resolution analog-to-digital conversion of ECG signals; Specialized modules for amplification and high resolution analog-to-digital conversion of EEG signals; Specialized boards for interfacing to PC.
The installed specialized software products are: LabView - a software platform for virtual instruments development, signal processing and others; Xilinx Vivado (Design Edition) - a software platform for synthesis and analysis of electronic designs-based on Xilinx products; Signal Hound - specialized software for communication with the Signal Hound spectrum analyzers and tracking generators.
The laboratory is used by students of bachelor and master programs: Signals and systems; Computer aided diagnosis and therapy; Medical image processing.
The laboratory used by graduate students of doctoral program "Theoretical fundamentals of communications technique".
Laboratory 1257 - Optoelectronics
The Laboratory is fully renovated with financial assistance of Telenor LTD (former Globul) in 2008. There are 12 work seats for students (bachelors or masters) and 2 for PhD students. There is year-round work with doctoral students. The Laboratory is a place for preparing a masters and bachelor theses too.
This laboratory is mainly hardware oriented: optical source for fiber attenuation testing; optical powermeter for fiber testing; optical time domain reflectometer with additional fiber 4 ęě; splicer; laboratory test set; media converters, cords, splitters, attenuators; digital scope; infrared camera; infrared thermometer; tool for wind speed measurement; programmer - Microchip; computers 3 pcs; Multifunction I/O National Instruments.
Software (special): Optiwave 13 – fiber optic systems simulation tool; Lab View ADD ON - Biomedical toolkit.

Laboratory 1258 - Ŕudio technology
There are several disciplines in area of audio technology in the laboratory for the students in Faculty of Telecommunications. The laboratory is renovated in 2009 year. The students have Internet access in the laboratory. There are 15 work places separated on different themes for laboratory work. Ňhere ŕre in the laboratory a laptop, an audio mixer YAMAHA, a processor for audio effects, mic C1 - 3 pcs., active speakers in 2080-2 pcs., a mixing console XENYX802 - 1 pc., two MIDI keyboards, a digital mixer 01V96 - 1 pc., a digital input-output adapter for digital console MY 16 AE - 1 pc., digital oscilloscopes – 2 pc., an audio processing system, a system for rooms and studios acoustic analysis and measurements, a microphone array system for research in area of sound waves propagation in acoustics.
The following specialized software is installed in the laboratory: Matlab, LabView software and CUBase software.

Laboratory 1259 - Computers communications
The laboratory is a computer class with nine computer workstations, twenty-five working places, multimedia projector and whiteboard. Renovated in 2009 it is equipped with modern personal computers and high speed internet connection. The laboratory is available for all students and PhDs for theoretical and practical exercises and project discussions.
The computers are Windows based with Visual Studio 2008 Professional Edition, MATLAB, Code Composer Studio, Ansoft Designer and Bootable Linux with GNU Radio.

Laboratory 1260 - Mobile communications
Totally renovated in 2008, the laboratory is equipped with modern workstations. There are available eighteen working places, six computers, high speed internet connection and Wi-Fi hotspot.

Laboratory 1261 - Radiocommunications
The laboratory is fully renovated in 2008. There are 17 training places. The laboratory is equipped with 10 desktop computers, a laser printer and a video projector. It offers a wide range of modern laboratory equipment: HM8135 Rohde & Schwarz/Hammeg 3 GHz RF synthesizer; HM8021 Rohde & Schwarz/Hammeg 1.6 GHz counter; HM8030 Rohde & Schwarz/Hammeg 10 MHz function generator; HMO722 Rohde & Schwarz/Hammeg 70 MHz digital oscilloscope; 4.4 GHz Signal Hound spectrum analyzer with tracking generator; Gw Instek GFC-8270H 2.7 GHz counter; two Tectronix 100 MHz analog oscilloscopes; Promax 1 GHz spectrum analyzer; TR0420 2 GHz sweep generator; Q-meter; laboratory power supplies etc.
The following software packages are installed: Matlab 2011 and Serenade 8 SV Design Environment for simulation of RF circuits.
Exercises on the following subjects are conducted in the laboratory: "Radiocommunication Equipment", "Communication Equipment", "Fundamentals of Telecommunications" and "Telecommunications".
PhD students are trained here on the program "Radio Transmitters and Receivers".
Laboratory 1262 - Video Communications and Technologies
The laboratory is equipped with the most modern technology in the field of video processing, image and gestures recognition, virtual and augmented reality. Students can see and work with the latest technical achievements in the field such as Kinect One, Oculus Rift Developer Kit2, Myo Armband, Leap Motion and many others. The laboratory is equipped with 12 working stations for students and 6 stations for faculty and graduate students.
In it are held many seminars in various disciplines of the undergraduate and graduate curriculum such as: "Digital Image Processing", "Audio Systems and Speech Coding", "Multimedia Systems", "Pattern Recognition and Neural Networks", "Adaptive Audio and Video Processing", "Audio and Video Compression in Telecommunications" and "Algorithms and Simulation Modelling".
Students can learn and work with specialized software: Matlab 2014 - software environment for processing and recognition of signals and images, Visual Studio 10 Express, Easy PHP, Java 7 SDK, OpenCV, Android Studio 1.2. Students can develop their own applications under Windows, Linux, iOS, Android and Web for all available in the lab hardware systems.
Laboratory 1263 - Measurements in Communications
In 2001, the laboratory was renovated and equipped with new modern computer equipment. In 1263 laboratory are available 18 work places. There are high-speed Internet connection and free WiFi access. It has 15 desktop computers. Also the laboratory has 2 laptops for conducting research, conferences and lectures.

Laboratory 1264 - Computer Laboratory
The computer lab has entirely renovated facilities and offers 19 stations for students, equipped with HP Compaq 6300 Workstations.
In it are held many seminars in various disciplines of the undergraduate and graduate curriculum such as: "Programming 3", "Coding Theory", "Mobile Communications", and "Interactive TV Systems".
Students can learn and work with specialized software: Matlab 2011 - software environment for numerical analysis, mathematical calculations and signal processing; Visual Studio 10 Express; Easy PHP, Java 7 SDK - software development environments standalone for applications under Windows, Linux, Android and Web; Code Composer Studio v5 - software platform for application development for TI DSP.
Laboratory 1310 - Audio technics and signal processors
The laboratory is fully equipped and renovated in 2010. There are 12 work places and additional places for laptops in the laboratory. In the laboratory is carried out development, research and experimental tests in areas related to both the laboratory work and in the doctoral programs field in specialty "Acoustic, audio technics and cinema technics". There are high-speed Internet connection in the laboratory.

Laboratory 1436 - Microwave Engineering
In 2009, the laboratory was completely renovated. In 1436 laboratory are available 14 job places. There is a high-speed Internet connection. It has 5 desktop computers.

Laboratory 1504 - Signals and Systems
In 2014, the laboratory was renovated and equipped with new computers. There are high-speed Internet connection and free WiFi access. Seminars and laboratory exercises. It has 27 workplaces with 8 computers, multimedia projector and screen. The laboratory is equipped with specialized hardware and software.
Laboratory 1511 - Broadband communications and cable television
In 2007 the laboratory was fully renovated and in 2012 a partial repair was also done after the floods caused by the reconstruction works of the roof of block 1. In laboratory 1511 there are 16 work stations available, one of which is for PhD candidates from PhD programs. Internet connection and a possibility for free Wi-Fi access are provided. The following exercises are carried out in the laboratory: Radio and television systems and networks; Global communications; Radiocommunication systems; Technological practicum.
The following equipment and nodes are available: Real working Headends for cable television; Cable amplifiers; Coaxial cables; Television receivers; Modules of system for optical transmission; Cable modems; Set-Top-Box for ground, satellite and cable reception; Own antenna platform located on the roof of block 1 for reception of DVB-S/S2 and DVB-T/T2 signals; Measurement equipment for control, diagnostics and tuning; Simulator EPROM 512; Development system with programmer DS-750; Multimeters; Rectifiers.

Laboratory 2504 - Visual and audio equipment and television systems
There are several disciplines in the area of audio and video technologies in the laboratory for the students in Faculty of Telecommunications. The students have Internet access in the laboratory. There are 15 work places separated on different themes for laboratory work.

Laboratory 4236 - Electrodynamics and electromagnetic wave propagation
The lab is fully renovated in 2010. It has 18 work places, divided on 6 experimental setups. Each setup gives opportunity for practical training and reproduction of real physical processes and phenomena in wave propagation and antenna principles. The main feature of the lab is that students achieve on-hand experience working with high frequency devices and systems. The lab is training students from the Faculty of Telecommunications in following subjects: "Electromagnetic Wave Propagations", "Antennas and Microwave Technique", Faculty of Transportation – "Antennas and High Frequency systems", Faculty of Management – "Engineering Ecology".
Laboratory 4602 - Antenna and Microwave Techniques
The Research laboratory is fully renovated and equipped with new and contemporary instrumentation. There are 8 working places in the lab. There is high-speed and free Wi-Fi internet connectivity. The lab also has Antenna measurement range, experimental Microwave Radio-Releigh link at 28 GHz, Satellite communication measurement system.
The lab has measurement instrumentation as follow: Scalar and Vector Network analyzers up to 40GHz, Spectrum analyzers, Frequency counters (40GHz), Oscilloscopes, Noise figure meter, Power meter (18GHz), Frequency synthesizers (3GHz), Software defined radio Spectrum analyzer Signal Hound USB 124A, Tracking Generator Signal Hound USB.
The lab has installed following software: Matlab (math analysis and programming workbench), Antenna software - 4NEC2 and FEKO.
The lab is used by: BSc, MSc and PhD students in the fields of Microwave Telecommunications - Antenna and Microwave techniques, Cellular and radio-relay networks, Satellite communications; Industry Research projects in the field of Antennas and Microwave systems.
Cabinet 3236A - Cabinet and PhD students’ laboratory
The cabinet, renovated in 2011, is appointed with six working places for PhD students. There are air conditioning, blinds, updated lighting. Each PhD student has a workplace equipped with the necessary equipment and tools. All have computers and are connected to a network through which use a scanner and printer. In the cabinet there is overhead projector, screen and whiteboard for training and discussions.

Laboratory 1453 - Data access networks
Data access networks laboratory is a computer class equipped with 9 computers and Internet access. Multimedia technology allows interactive teaching following undergraduate and graduate courses: "Communication Circuits", "Programming 3", "Telecommunication Protocols and Internet Communications", "Digital Signal Processing", and "Computer Simulation and Modeling in Communications".
The laboratory equipment conducts other classes in information and communication technologies field. The computer's performance is compatible for the latest versions of licensed software for programming and simulations, such as Visual Studio Pro, Matlab, Java 7 SDK, Windows 7, MS Office products, at all.
Data access networks laboratory is also a preferred venue for students developing bachelor and master theses and course projects.
Laboratory 1455 - Telecommunication services and applications
The laboratory is equipped with workplaces where the computer systems are connected in a network and provided with access to Internet which gives opportunity for conducting classes in the field of information and communication technologies. The available multimedia set helps in interactive education process for students, attending courses included in bachelor or master curriculum, namely "Information Technologies in Telecommunications", "Mobile Networks and Services", "Multimedia Networks" and "4G Networks - LTE".
The laboratory has an area of 48 m2 and has 16 working places for students. The laboratory has been reconstructed and fully renovated in 2013 with the financial support of the State Enterprise "Air Traffic Services Authorities".
The laboratory is provided with local connectivity (Ethernet and WiFi) and additional educational equipment and tools (interactive whiteboard, flipchart, ultrashort multimedia projector, electric projection screen).
In the laboratory are taught Bachelor and Master courses such as: Transport Telecommunications Networks; Databases; Broadband Networks; Access Networks; etc. The laboratory is equipped with specialized equipment and software such as professional multiplex equipment, line transmission equipment, digital repeaters and simulation software, specialized measuring equipment (signal and noise generators, artificial lines, error rate measuring sets) and high class All-in-One Computers. Most of the specialized equipment is a donation from the partners of the faculty and other companies working in the field of telecommunications.
The laboratory has a conference table and is used also for state examinations and diploma thesis defense.
Laboratory 1457 - Network Management and Data Bases
The Laboratory is equipped for education on Communications Networks, System Administration and Storage Area Networks at Department of Communication Networks, Faculty of Telecommunications is sponsored by HP Global Delivery Center and Smartcom Ltd., Bulgaria. It has 4 HP servers, 4 storage systems of different classes, 30 desktop computers, 5 core class Juniper routers, Cisco equipment, unlimited number of working licenses. The aim of the team in the laboratory is to allow students to understand foundation of communication networks, IP technology, operation systems, system administration, storage technologies, fiber channel protocol, network design and configuration. They can also develop their own ideas and experiments. Students are able to begin their system administration carrier on different types of equipment. The laboratory is a place for student research activities as well as education on Communication Networks, Telecommunication Protocols, Integrated Communication Networks, Telecommunication Software, Data Networks and Computer Communications, Storage Area Network. More than 300 students work in the laboratory annually.
Laboratory 1458 - Fiber optic and wire line cable systems
The Laboratory was fully renewed and refurbished in 2008 with the help of the Reichle & De-Massari – the leader in these technologies from the Switzerland. The lab is equipped with the latest devices for testing of fiber optic and cooper cabling systems. Certified as R&M authorized education center for the design, planning, installation and certification of structured cabling systems.
Laboratory 1459 - Communication switching systems
The laboratory has facilities for teaching of groups of up to 15 students divided in 4 or 5 subgroups.
The laboratory works of the following subjects are taught there – "Fundamentals of Networking Technologies", "Communication Switching Systems", "Communication Technology", "Telecommunications", "Basics of Telecommunications" with student from different faculties of the Technical University.
The laboratory is equipped with professional systems from different vendors 30/32 PCM System Siemens, Alcatel-Lucent 1660SM SDH multiplexer, MultiWave OTN system CIENA, analog, digital and IP switching systems, multimedia, screen and whiteboard.
The laboratory has measurement instruments – Level Generators and Meters, Universal Measurement Bridge, Psophometer, Digital Oscilloscope, Optical Time Domain Reflectometer etc. There are 6 PC configurations connected to the University network.
Laboratory 1462 - Reliability and security in communications
The laboratory has facilities for teaching of groups of up to 15 students divided in 4 or 5 subgroups. The laboratory supports some of the base subjects in the Communication networks specialization: "Reliability and security in communications", "Architectures and protocols for network communications with higher level of security", "Secure systems".
R&D topics: Reliability and security in communications; Safety Critical Systems and Network; Fault tolerance Systems; LTE-R railway communication networks; Cryptography – systems and algorithms; Data Maning; Adaptive systems.

Laboratories 1209 and 1415
In the laboratories are available professional electronic measurement tools. Those measurement tools can be used for research of basic characteristic and parameters of different electronic components. The behavior of the materials in the electromagnetic field could be investigated in the laboratories also. The measurement equipment includes: oscilloscopes, generators, multimeters, multifunctional data acquisitions systems, thermal cameras with adjustable temperature, computers, etc. Students work with the designed learning kits developed for laboratory exercises of different courses: "Material science" – course for first year students studying at the Faculty of Telecommunications, Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Technologies and Faculty of Computer Systems and Control; "Design of Communication Devices" - course for third year studying at the Faculty of Telecommunications. The laboratories 1415 and 1209 can be used for real measurement investigations and researches of different materials, sensors and electronics components. The laboratories have new electronic measurement tools applicable for accurate measurement of electrical parameters, like Rigol digital multimeters, Hameg (Rohde & Scwarz Company) oscilloscopes.
The Laboratory is mainly dedicated to laboratory exercises oriented to computer aided design (CAD) of printed circuit boards (PCB). This is achieved mainly by means of established software products like Protel and Orcad. There are seven personal computers, i.e. workplaces dislocated in the room. Part of the laboratory exercises in "Technological Practicum" for students in Telecommunications are being conducted in the same room since 2013/2014 study year. Four corresponding workplaces comprising microcontroller Arduino – based development system are provided for them. Laboratory 1210 is also used for lectures for the following obligatory courses: "Diagnostics Fault Tolerance in Communications", "Automated Manufacturing Systems", "Computer-aided design of digital communication circuits with VHDL", "Telecommunications Law", "Nanotechnologies and Nanoelectronics in Telecommunications" etc. oriented to students from higher courses of education at the Faculty of Telecommunications.
Laboratory 1305 - Computer-aided Design
In the laboratory there are PCs, Internet and Wi-Fi connections. The laboratory disposes with licenses software - VIVADO (XILINX), Cadence ORCAD Design Suit 16.6, COMSOL MULTIPHYSICS 5.1. There is also software installed for design and simulation of nano communications structures, devices and networks: Nanotube Modeler and NanoEngineer 1. The open source platforms for SDR and Cognitive radio design - GNU Radio and OSSIE are installed, as well as drivers for hardware USRP1, 2, n210, daughterboard, antennas, etc. The research performed implements USRPs, developments boards with FPGA/CPLD of XILINX, ALTERA and CYPRESS. It disposes with measurement instruments as logical analyzer and signal vector generator. The laboratory is used for practical exercises of bachelor and master degree students, for bachelor and master degree thesis development, for ERASMUS+ students and for Ph.D. research. The laboratory is also involved in e-learning projects.

The Laboratory is an information and training center in the field of Communication technologies for data storing and data security. A Storage Area Network is configured and installed in the Laboratory. The available Equipment includes an entry-level enterprise storage array EMC CX300, optical switches, Fujitsu Siemens Computers server with two communication adapter (HBA). Main topics of the Lectures in the laboratory are Communication technologies for data storing, data security and information management and Integrated Primary and Secondary Data Center Solutions. Communication technologies cover the topics related to SAN, NAS, CAS Technologies, Corporate storage solutions design based on entry level, middle range and high end storage arrays and Information Lifecycle Management solutions. Integrated Primary and Secondary Data Center Solutions include Disaster recovery solutions, Data replication technologies and business continuity solutions: SRDF, TF, SnapView, Mirror View Software configuration and implementation and Cloud technologies and services.
